To start off the new year, we would like to honor James M. Chen, one of our newest members of the International Advances in Economic Research Board of Editors, as our Member of the Month. Professor Chen is an attorney and professor of law with a quarter-century of experience in the law of regulated industries, economics, and regulatory policy. He holds the Justin Smith Morrill Chair in Law at Michigan State University College of Law and is counsel to the Technology Law Group, a Washington, DC-based firm specializing in telecommunications law. February

 For the month of February we would like to honor a relatively new IAES member, Shin-ichi Fukuda. Dr. Fukuda is a Professor of Economics at the University of Toyko and first joined the IAES in the spring of 2015 at our 79th International Atlantic Economic Conference, in Milan, Italy. Since then, he has regular attended the meetings and will be attending our upcoming conference in Berlin, Germany to give a talk on, “Impacts of Asian financial markets on global economies”. He specializes in macroeconomics and international finance, and his recent work has been inspired by issues related to exchange rate policy, monetary policy, foreign exchange reserve accumulation, and banking problems under crises. March

March is a special month because it is National Woman’s History Month and to celebrate we would like to honor a regular participant in the IAES conference, Professor Iuliana Matei. She will also be joining us this month in Berlin, Germany for our 83rd International Atlantic Economic Conference, where she will be presenting her paper entitled “Is there a link between the public deficit and the trade deficit in the Euro area? New evidence from panel data”. Dr. Matei is an Adjunct Professor of Economics at the Scientific Institute of Economics and Management (IÉSEG) in France and prior to 2014 she was a Research Affiliate at the University of Paris, in their Development and Globalization team. May

At the IAES our members take an active approach to better the society as whole; whether that be participating as an Editor on a review board for a journal, helping organize conference sessions, or inviting your colleagues to participate in a conference. For the month of May we would like to honor one of those economists who heeded the call from her colleague and we are glad she did. That is why we are honored to have Cândida Ferreira as our Member of the Month for the month of May. Dr. Ferreira is a Professor of Economics at the University of Lisbon and her current research pursuits deal with the relevance of globalization to economic growth. June

For our June member of the month, we welcome Ioanna T. Kokores. Dr. Kokores is a lecturer in “Monetary Theory and Policy” in the Department of Economics, at the University of Piraeus (Athens, Greece). She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Birmingham (UK) under a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation awarded after an annual national examination process. She also holds an M.Sc. Economics from the same school, and a B.Sc. Economics from the Athens School of Economics and Business (Greece). July

As the summer continues on, IAES welcomes our July member of the month Dr. Ben Kyer. Dr. Kyer joined the Francis Marion University faculty in 1989. He teaches Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, History of Economic Thought, Public Finance, and MBA 705 Economic Analysis, and Economic Analysis. August

For our August member of the month the IAES welcomes Professor Joe Wilkins. Professor Wilkins taught various courses in Executive Leadership, Operations Research and International Business in the School of Business and Management at the University of Illinois at Springfield. He is a former USAF Captain and a veteran of combat in Vietnam. With fifty-two years as a pilot, he has served as a volunteer Lifeline Pilot flying body organs to transplant patients.  Wilkins is an experienced scuba diver and has made hundreds of parachute jumps….read more >>>
