Dr. Katherine S. Virgo, Executive Vice President
Dr. Virgo is Executive Vice President of the International Atlantic Economic Society. She has served the Society in numerous roles over the past 35 years beginning in 1978 as Assistant Coordinator and most recently serving as Executive Administrator. From 1993-2012, she also served as Associate Editor of the Atlantic Economic Journal and from 1995-2012 as Deputy Editor of International Advances in Economic Research. She currently serves as Managing Editor of the Atlantic Economic Journal and Editor-in-Chief of International Advances in Economic Research. Dr. Virgo is also an Adjunct Professor, Department of Health Policy and Management, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, Atlanta, GA. Previous recent positions include: Managing Director, Health Services Research Program, American Cancer Society, Atlanta, Georgia; Professor, Department of Surgery, Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center; and Statistician, Surgical Service, Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Saint Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Virgo obtained her B.S. in business administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois in 1981, her M.B.A from the same university in 1983, and her Ph.D. in health services research specializing in economics and health care administration from Saint Louis University in 1991. Dr. Virgo’s research over the past two decades has been primarily in the cancer field focusing on surgical outcomes, clinical guideline development, secondary prevention, economic analysis, and health services utilization. She has published over 160 peer-reviewed articles, seven book chapters, and co-edited two books entitled, Cancer Patient Follow up, and The Bionic Human: Health Promotion for People with Implanted Prosthetic Devices. Her most significant contribution to the literature, and the topic most often requested when she is invited to speak at international conferences, has been her assessment of the costs of following patients after curative-intent treatment for various cancers, most notably colorectal cancer.
Dr. Virgo previously served as a member of the Health Services Committee (HSC) of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the committee responsible for writing evidence-based guidelines for cancer care practice. Dr. Virgo was involved in the updating of the ASCO colorectal cancer surveillance guidelines, the development of recommendations for the management of androgen sensitive metastatic, recurrent, or progressive prostate cancer, and a clinical evidence review regarding cardiopulmonary late effects and the ongoing care of adult cancer survivors. She is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Expert Panel on Treatment of Androgen Sensitive and Androgen Independent Prostate Cancer.

Tiffany has over 8 years of experience as an administrative assistant. She provides day-to-day support services for the International Atlantic Economic Society staff and members. Tiffany enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading and writing poetry.
Brianna Crowell, Website and Marketing Coordinator
Brianna received her Bachelor of Science in Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she also assisted in student recruiting for Economics within the school of Humanities and Science. During her off time, Brianna stays active with coaching, refereeing, running, reading and practicing guitar or piano. Other areas of interest include fashion, health and travel.
Grace Cummings, Editorial Assistant
Grace holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Creative Writing from Emory University. She was the Editor-In-Chief of the Oxford College of Emory University Spokesman and a weekly columnist for the Emory Wheel. Grace enjoys reading, writing, drawing, hiking, and being a film buff. She also enjoys volunteering with animal adoption agencies and with after-school programs that help children develop their reading skills.
