Congratulations to the annual winners, Zach Devlin-Foltz and Katherine Lim, Macalester College for taking first prize for their paper entitiled, "Motivations for 'Non-Rational' Punishment in Public Goods Settings: An Experimental Analysis " Look for their paper to be published in an upcoming issue of the Atlantic Economic Journal.

To encourage undergraduate interest in economic issues, Franklin Allen, President, and John Campbell, Vice-President of the International Atlantic Economic Society cordially invite students to compete in the IAES annual undergraduate paper competition in Montreal next October. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR AFRICAN ECONOMISTS

A limited number of scholarships are available to help defray part of the cost of attending the Society's conferences. The scholarships range from $450 to $570, depending upon need. Applicants must be from an African nation and be a professional economist. Recipients of the scholarships are required to present a formal research paper to fellow economists at the conference.

Letters of application should include: (1) Name; (2) Affiliation; (3) Rank; (4) Paper title (60 character limit); (5) Paper summary (500 word limit); (6) Category number of paper topic; (7) Agreement to be a discussant in a session other than the one in which you present a paper; (8) Category numbers of paper topics you wish to discuss; (9) Yearly income range: (less than $20,000); ($20,000 - $29,999); ($30,000 - $44,999); (over $45,000); (10) Biographical Sketch limited to 2 pages (e.g., education, key publications). Deadline for application is 31 December.

GRANTS FOR EUROPEAN CONFERENCES

Over the last several years, the International Atlantic Economic Society has awarded over $35,000 in grants to more than 175 of our neediest colleagues! These grants allow people to join us who might not otherwise be able to attend the European conferences.

A limited number of grants are available to help defray part of the registration fees for attending our European conferences. The amounts range from $100.00 - $150.00, depending on need. Letter of application should include: (1) Name; (2) Affiliation; (3) Rank; (4) Paper title (60 character limit); (5) Paper summary (500 word limit); (6) Category number of paper topic; (7) Agreement to be a discussant in a session other than the one in which you present a paper; (8) Category numbers of paper topics you wish to discuss; (9) Yearly income range: (less than $20,000); ($20,000 - $29,999); ($30,000 - $44,999); (over $45,000); (10) Biographical Sketch limited to 2 pages (e.g., education, key publications).
